Nesma Renewables Advances Utilities and Solar Development
Apr 2025Nesma has combined the PPP activities of Nesma Water with Nesma Renewables, creating a broader utility platform for energy transition and water infrastructure investments. The portfolio includes Dumat Al Jandal wind, South Jeddah and Henakiyah solar projects, Jubail 3B and Yanbu 4 desalination plants, and the Jubail-Buraydah water transmission pipeline. Integrated teams across development, investment, and operations are already in place, with further strategic planning underway.
As part of the Henakiyah Solar Project, MNE Trading Ltd, a special-purpose vehicle formed by NRE and its partners, completed the procurement and delivery of more than two million solar modules. Around 3,000 containers were shipped from China to Al Madinah Province. Quality assurance and testing processes were applied throughout to ensure smooth delivery and readiness for energy production this summer.

Nesma Participates in Jubail-Buraydah Water Project
Mar 2025Nesma is proud to be part of the Jubail-Buraydah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project, a major initiative to enhance water security and sustainability in Saudi Arabia. The project was recently announced under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Prince of Al-Qassim province, and in the presence of His Excellency Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
The Jubail-Buraydah water transmission pipeline will be one of the largest in the Kingdom, spanning 587 kilometers to transport desalinated water from the Eastern Province to Al-Qassim. With a transmission capacity of 650,000 cubic meters per day, the project will ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply to meet the region's growing needs. The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's broader efforts to enhance water infrastructure and sustainability, aligning with national objectives to improve water efficiency and support economic growth.
Nesma is part of a consortium alongside Aljomaih Energy & Water Company and Buhur for Investment Company, contributing to executing this significant project under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model. The project was awarded through a competitive bidding process, where 32 companies, including 14 local firms, participated. Further details on Nesma's specific role will be shared as the project progresses.
The construction and development of the project are set to commence soon, with commercial operations expected to begin in Q2 2029. The concession period for the project will last 35 years, ensuring long-term sustainability and efficient water transmission. This project is a significant step toward securing water resources for Al-Qassim, supporting its economic, industrial, and agricultural growth. Additionally, it includes sustainability-driven initiatives, such as reverse pumping capabilities between Al-Shamasiyah and Jubail, designed to optimize water distribution efficiency.

Feb 2025Spacemaker KSA joined forces with Tech Onshore MEP Prefabricators (TOM), a Singaporean company, by signing a joint venture (JV) agreement on February 12, 2025. TOM is a leading manufacturer of mechanical, electrical & plumbing (MEP) modulars. The new JV plans to make MEP modulars in the Kingdom, further enhancing Spacemaker capabilities.
The agreement was signed by Spacemaker Managing Director Dany Gholmieh and Mahendran Mini Sami, General Manager of TOM, during the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Private Sector Forum. Modular construction contributes to the Vision 2030 goals of rapid transformation of the Kingdom with consistent quality and expertise.

The technical meeting provided insights into current advancements, challenges and opportunities in the petrochemical industry. Jan 2025Nesma United Industries has been awarded a contract to create, operate and maintain Amaala Linear Park within the open spaces of Triple Bay, a Kingdom giga project of luxury wellness resorts on the Red Sea. A key element of the Amaala Triple Bay plan, the Linear Park will encompass 240,000 square meters. The design and build contract is for softscape, hardscape, shade structures, lighting, street furniture, play area, sports courts, signage, toilets and associated infrastructure works within a 9 month delivery timeframe. Nesma Infrastructure & Technology Wins Multiple SEC Projects
Jan 2025Nesma Infrastructure & Technology (NIT) has signed three contracts with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) for essential electrical infrastructure projects.
The largest contract, with a 21-month delivery time frame, requires construction of two 380 kV grid substations northeast of Riyadh in Rumah.
In addition, NIT will install line reactors to protect two other Riyadh area substations. Another contract, also signed this month, is for a new substation for BISHA PV 380/132 KV BSP, in the Asir province of the Kingdom. The project is to be delivered within 23 months on a lump sum turnkey basis.
The scope of work for the Rumah and Bisha projects includes the engineering, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning, and energization of the substation along with its connection to the Saudi National Grid.
In December, 2024, NIT won an extension works project at Abu Hadriyah 380/115kV substation in Al Jubail City. The scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the substation extension works along with diversion of the overhead transmission lines and several modifications.
The delivery timeframe for this lump sum turnkey project is 24 months. These three significant projects all support Vision 2030 by modernizing the electrical infrastructure, providing increased capability for growing regions and preparing the Kingdom for future growth.

Nov 2024Yanbu International Water Company, a subsidiary of Nesma Co., has won the Desalination Project of the Year 2024 award from MEED, the leading business intelligence provider in the Middle East and North Africa. This award recognizes projects that excel in innovation, sustainability and social impact.
The project is a collaboration between ENGIE, Nesma, and MOWAH. It involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a seawater desalination plant in Yanbu Governorate, with a production capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day and a total cost of SAR 3.3 billion.
This project is the first dual-purpose desalination and water transmission project in the Kingdom developed through a public-private partnership model. It includes facilities for storing potable water sufficient for two operational days, as well as electrical infrastructure, serving the water needs of the Makkah and Madinah regions.
The MEED Projects Awards, established in 2007, are prestigious accolades that celebrate excellence in the projects sector across the Middle East and North Africa. Nov 2024The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced the selection of a consortium comprising Nesma CO., Aljomaih Energy and Water Company and Buhur for Investment as the preferred developer for the Jubail-Buraydah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project. The project will be executed under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model for a period of 35 years, starting from the expected commercial operation date in the first quarter of 2029.
This project is the first of its kind in the Kingdom to connect the Eastern and Qassim Provinces, aiming to supply potable, desalinated water through pipelines stretching 587 kilometers with a transmission capacity of 650,000 cubic meters per day, and the ability to pump water in both directions. The project also includes water storage facilities with a total capacity of 1,634,500 cubic meters, ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of drinking water in the region.
This initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which focus on the sustainable development of water resources and the provision of high-quality, affordable water services.

Nesma United Industries Shura Island Villas Project
Aug 2024Nesma United Industries has signed a contract with Red Sea Global (owned by the Kingdom’s Public Investment Fund) to provide hard and soft landscaping for the Shura Golf Villas and ancillary buildings. The landscaping is integral to developing sustainable tourism on Shura Island.
The project consists of five landscaping clusters utilizing a “smart” irrigation system and is expected to take seven months for completion. The scope of work includes planting over 100k plants provided by the client and supplying furniture, natural stone, a wooden deck and the irrigation system.
The dolphin-shaped Shura Island which is connected to the mainland by bridge, hosts luxury resorts that are set to begin opening this year. The world’s fourth largest barrier reef system surrounds the archipelago that includes Shura Island.
