Spacemaker Hosts Public Investment Fund Delegation

Spacemaker hosted a delegation from the Public Investment Fund (PIF) National Development team, along with representatives from 13 PIF development companies. The delegation visited Spacemaker headquarters, where they explored various company sites and key innovations in modular construction. Spacemaker’s commitment to a sustainable future aligns perfectly with the objectives of Vision 2030.

Nesma United Industries Wins Amaala Landscaping

Nesma United Industries has been awarded a contract to create, operate and maintain Amaala Linear Park within the open spaces of Triple Bay, a Kingdom giga project of luxury wellness resorts on the Red Sea. A key element of the Amaala Triple Bay plan, the Linear Park will encompass  240,000 square meters. The design and build contract is for softscape, hardscape, shade structures, lighting, street furniture, play area, sports courts, signage, toilets and associated infrastructure works within a 9 month delivery timeframe. The project includes a 12 month operation and maintenance contract.

Nesma Infrastructure & Technology Wins Multiple SEC Projects

Nesma Infrastructure & Technology (NIT) has signed three contracts with the Saudi  Electricity Company (SEC) for essential electrical infrastructure projects. 

The largest contract, with a 21-month delivery time frame, requires construction of two  380 kV grid substations northeast of Riyadh in Rumah. 

In addition, NIT will install line reactors to protect two other Riyadh area substations.  Another contract, also signed this month, is for a new substation for BISHA PV 380/132 KV  BSP, in the Asir province of the Kingdom. The project is to be delivered within 23 months  on a lump sum turnkey basis. 

The scope of work for the Rumah and Bisha projects includes the engineering,  procurement, construction, testing & commissioning, and energization of the substation  along with its connection to the Saudi National Grid. 

In December, 2024, NIT won an extension works project at Abu Hadriyah 380/115kV  substation in Al Jubail City. The scope of work includes the engineering, procurement,  construction, testing and commissioning of the substation extension works along with  diversion of the overhead transmission lines and several modifications. 

The delivery timeframe for this lump sum turnkey project is 24 months. These three  significant projects all support Vision 2030 by modernizing the electrical infrastructure,  providing increased capability for growing regions and preparing the Kingdom for future  growth.

Yanbu 4 Project Wins Desalination Project of the Year 2024

Yanbu International Water Company, a subsidiary of Nesma Co., has won the Desalination Project of the Year 2024 award from MEED, the leading business intelligence provider in the Middle East and North Africa. This award recognizes projects that excel in innovation, sustainability and social impact.

The project is a collaboration between ENGIE, Nesma, and MOWAH. It involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a seawater desalination plant in Yanbu Governorate, with a production capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day and a total cost of SAR 3.3 billion.

This project is the first dual-purpose desalination and water transmission project in the Kingdom developed through a public-private partnership model. It includes facilities for storing potable water sufficient for two operational days, as well as electrical infrastructure, serving the water needs of the Makkah and Madinah regions.

The MEED Projects Awards, established in 2007, are prestigious accolades that celebrate excellence in the projects sector across the Middle East and North Africa. Projects undergo a rigorous evaluation process by an independent panel of judges based on criteria such as engineering excellence, technological innovation, sustainability and societal benefit.

Nesma Company Among the Developers of the Jubail-Buraydah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project

The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced the selection of a consortium comprising Nesma CO., Aljomaih Energy and Water Company and Buhur for Investment as the preferred developer for the Jubail-Buraydah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project. The project will be executed under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model for a period of 35 years, starting from the expected commercial operation date in the first quarter of 2029.

This project is the first of its kind in the Kingdom to connect the Eastern and Qassim Provinces, aiming to supply potable, desalinated water through pipelines stretching 587 kilometers with a transmission capacity of 650,000 cubic meters per day, and the ability to pump water in both directions. The project also includes water storage facilities with a total capacity of 1,634,500 cubic meters, ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of drinking water in the region.

This initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which focus on the sustainable development of water resources and the provision of high-quality, affordable water services.

Nesma United Industries Shura Island Villas Project

Nesma United Industries has signed a contract with Red Sea Global (owned by the Kingdom’s Public Investment Fund) to provide hard and soft landscaping for the Shura Golf Villas and ancillary buildings. The landscaping is integral to developing sustainable tourism on Shura Island.

The project consists of five landscaping clusters utilizing a “smart” irrigation system and is expected to take seven months for completion. The scope of work includes planting over 100k plants provided by the client and supplying furniture, natural stone, a wooden deck and the irrigation system.

The dolphin-shaped Shura Island which is connected to the mainland by bridge, hosts luxury resorts that are set to begin opening this year. The world’s fourth largest barrier reef system surrounds the archipelago that includes Shura Island.

Modern Bus Receives Official Visit

The Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, conducted an inspection and tour of Makkah Bus lines operated by Modern Bus Co. which included a bus ride to the central operations facilities. The Deputy Governor was briefed on the advanced technologies employed in Makkah buses and operations.

So far, Modern Bus has transported over 161 million passengers on its 400 buses and 12 routes traversing Makkah.

The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites has won two awards for the Makkah Bus project, an operation which supports the Vision 2030 pillars of a vibrant society and a thriving economy.

Commercial operation launch of the Independent Water Project in Jubail 3B

The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced the commercial operation launch of the Independent Water Project in Jubail 3B (IWP).

The project, completed by Nesma Water and Energy in partnership with Al Ajlan and the French energy giant Engie, will contribute to the production of 570,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day. This will be achieved through reverse osmosis technology to meet the needs of two million residents in Riyadh and Al-Qassim. The project is implemented under a 25-year build, own, operate (BOO) contract with a value of $693m.

The key features of the project include advanced water desalination capabilities, storage tanks with sufficient capacity for one day's production, and an internal solar energy system that reduces reliance on the national electricity grid.

NUI NEOM Landscaping Contract

NEOM has contracted with Nesma United Industries (NUI) for a hardscape and softscape project near Al Bedaa, west of Bajdah. The four-month project also includes a follow-up, 12-month maintenance contract. NUI’s Landscaping Division will plant native trees, shrubs and grasses provided by the client as part of NEOM’s sustainable design. Covering 500 hectares, the 1.5 million plants will consist of 55% trees, 25% shrubs and 20% grasses. NUI will also design and install an irrigation system to include tanks, pumps and generators. NEOM is a 26,500 km2 area in northwest Saudi Arabia that is home to sustainable, forward-thinking developments set to transform the Kingdom and inspire the world.

Ministry Officials Visit Nesma Infrastructure & Technology NEOM Project

Ministry of Energy officials praised Nesma  Infrastructure and Technology’s (NIT) commitment to excellence and adherence to international standards during a visit to the NIC North & EV2

Electric Company, ENOWA NEOM and NIT along with Ministry of Energy Deputy Ministers. The project entails the construction of two

132/33kV substations and incorporates cutting-edge technologies. It is situated within Oxagon, NEOM, valued at around SAR 400M and scheduled for completion within 28 months.

Built in alignment with stringent environmental standards, the project strategically connects to and strengthens the broader energy grid ensuring efficient power transmission and representing a significant step towards realizing the vision of NEOM as a futuristic city.

Namma Cargo iHerb Project Underway

Namma Cargo Services is overseeing the construction of a 40,000 m2 state-of-the-art warehouse for iHerb, the prominent global health and wellness leader.

 Located in Riyadh, the facility will feature sophisticated warehousing capabilities with fully automated logistic solutions and is expected to be completed by September 2024.

 iHerb and Korean partner company, CJ Logistics, have relocated their Regional Headquarters to Riyadh, where they are establishing a global e-commerce center.

Namma Cargo Oil Rig Move

Namma Cargo lifted and moved two oil and gas rigs and four camps for the Arabian Drilling company. The weight of each rig is 2,245 Metric Ton with a total of 201 packages. 220 trailers were used to transport the rigs and camps from Dammam seaport to Sakaka and Haradth. Namma Cargo successfully completed the customs clearance the transportation within the KPI.

Namat

Namat continues to grow and is now one of the Kingdom’s largest manufacturers of high-quality embroidered uniforms and products, with factories, capable of producing thousands of bespoke items. Its uniforms are worn by employees at major airports, Ministry of Tourism centers, NEOM, the Holy Mosque of Madinah, as well as at major commercial companies and hotels across the Kingdom.

Against stiff competition, Namat recently won the contract to manufacture the official uniforms at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, and has also signed a third annual agreement with TasHeel to continue creating their uniforms. 

As a non-profit, Namat aligns with Vision 2030’s goals of local production, women's empowerment, and rural development. Their lean management, ethical practices, and cost-conscious approach make them a top choice for the manufacture of bespoke corporate uniforms and other items.

NW&E Bahraini Water Plant Receives Royal Inauguration

The Khalifa City Water Distribution Station in Bahrain, constructed by Nesma Water & Energy and Al Moayyed Contracting, was inaugurated in an April 30th ceremony attended by Bahraini and Saudi VIPs including Nesma Water & Energy CEO Mahmoud Fallatah and COO Ashraf Radwan, as well as Al Moayyed Contracting CEO Hala Al Moayyed. The SAR 134 million project is one of many in Bahrain funded by the Saudi Development Fund (SFD).

As one of the celebrations of Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Silver Jubilee, the inauguration was led by Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and attended by Shaikh Yasser Ibrahim Al Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs as well as Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) president. The inauguration was broadcast on both Bahraini and Saudi media. The CEO of the SFD, Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, also spoke, lauding the importance of the water station as a sustainable development project funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Nesma Infrastructure & Technology Wins SEC Project

Nesma Infrastructure and Technology (NIT) has signed a contract valued at around SAR 400 million with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to construct the Al Jazeera Royal Palace Substation in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia.

The scope of work for this fast-track project includes engineering, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning and energizing the 

transmission substation along with its connection to the national grid through around 45 km of overhead transmission lines and underground power cables.

This turnkey project is set to be delivered within 17 months.
