Nesma Training Center Opening Ceremony

Under the patronage of HRH Prince Mishal Bin Majid Bin Abdulaziz, Nesma Training Centre (NTC) celebrated its official opening in Rawdah District, Jeddah, KSA.

Saleh Ali Alturki, President of Nesma Holding Co. Ltd. took HRH Prince Mishal through a tour of NTC, which offers training to Nesma employees & to the general public.

 

It’s worth noting that NTC can hold 400 trainees at one time & that it offers various courses such as English, Computer Skills, Marketing, Sales & others, all of which are offered for free.

 

NTC is part of Nesma’s CSR initiative, which focuses on training Saudis in order to enable & empower them so that they could utilise the many work opportunities available in KSA.

Nesma & Partners celebrated Flood Water Drainage Project

Nesma & Partners celebrated the completion of its Flood Water Drainage Project with the attendance of HRH Prince Khalid Al Faisal in a ceremony held at Ghaia Valley, which is one of the project’s sites.

HRH Prince Faisal was accompanied by HRH Prince Mishaal bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, HRH Prince Mansour bin Meta’ab Minister of Municipal Affairs and Rural, Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, Minister of Water and Electricity Engineer Abdullah Al-Hosayen, and Transport Minister Dr. Jabara Suraiseri, and a number of other officials.

 

The Flood Water Drainage Project was completed in two phases. Nesma & Partners worked on both the urgent solutions phase which was an earlier project that lasted 110 days & the 10 month permanent solution phase which included the construction of five major dams, eight generic dams & five sub channels.

Nesma UniTrade Helps Organize “Fire Safety in Buildings” Seminar

A one-day seminar on fire safety, entitled “Fire Safety in Buildings,” was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Jeddah.

The seminar was organized in part by Nesma UniTrade and sponsored by Civil Defense in Makkah and Halspan, a world leader in fire door manufacturing. The event was of interest to many engineering and safety professionals and help create an an important awareness of fire safety when constructing buildings. The seminar could help the Kingdom’s fire fighters as well.

 

Lt. Gen. Jameel M. Arbaien, director general of the Civil Defense, commented “The Civil Defense’s main concern is to ensure safety, especially fire safety.”

Panelists and participants discussed the importance of fire protection in the use of emergency doors, different types of wood used in doors, and anti-burning agents. Dialogue continued to spaces in buildings that limit the transfer of fire from one location to another as well as leakage rates of gas as a result of fire from those ports.

 

The conference gathered together a large number of attendees who exchanged knowledge and experiences in regards to fire safety here in Jeddah.

Umm Al-Qura University Graduation

This year Nesma will be sponsoring a unique graduation ceremony for Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca and provinces Aljmom Layth and Qunfudah for the academic year university 1432/1433 AH.

The event will be attended by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al Faisal Governor of Makkah Region. A number of officials from Makkah as well as the parents of students will be in attendance at the celebration to take place the university city of historical Babidah.

Umm Al-Qura University is expecting to graduate more than 5000 students this year.

Neighborhood Initiative (Umdas)

With the firm belief in the benefit of revitalizing the once important role played by the ‘Umda’, Nesma collaborated with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) and the Jeddah Municipality to sponsor the complete construction and furnishing of Al Rawdah District’s ‘Umda’ or Mayor’s administrative office in Jeddah.

Nesma Embroidery Center

Opened in 2009, the non-profit Nesma Embroidery Center aims to empower the local community of hearing-impaired women. The center provides women with jobs after the necessary training is administered, and then a career path with a choice of vocation in the growing sector of clothing design, manufacturing and finishing.

Nesma understands the important role that education plays in shaping the lives of young men and women. To help create the knowledge-based workforce of the future, Nesma offers scholarships to such institutes as King Abdulaziz University, Effat University & Dar Al-Hekma College, to name only a few.

In Support of Saudization

In partnership with the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), Nesma & Partners Contracting Co. Ltd. trained and hired around 1,500 young Saudis for various technical and administrative jobs. The entire process included seven separate agreements signed between Nesma & Partners and the HRDF, a sign of our commitment to partner with the government to increase the number of Saudis in the private sector.

Developing Our Talent

Naif (left), and Abdullah (right) both graduated from King Abdulaziz University and met in 2003 at a Nesma interview which led to both being hired in Nesma Holding’s finance department. Since then, they have fast-tracked into manager positions through Nesma’s training and scholarship Master’s programs which focus on an idiviualized career development path.
